Glasshouse Celeste — Designed to Look Out, Not Be Looked At

Basot, Uttarakhand · 2021 · Farmstay

Glasshouse Celeste is a single-level weekend residence, conceived as a pure, unadorned glass box that maximizes panoramic Himalayan views. Kept deliberately low to eliminate vertical obstructions, the design features expansive glass walls, a sunken living area, floating beds, and a slanted glass corridor, all stripping interior space to its bare essentials. On the facade, a considered palette of glass, exposed concrete, painted surfaces, and vertical timber cladding shifts in texture and tone as one moves around the building. Inverted beams and a split roof add structural intrigue while enabling natural ventilation, achieving sophistication entirely through the honest expression of simple materials.
