Colors — Eco-Friendly Haven

Khatima, Uttarakhand · 2015 · Residential

The house was designed to be both cost-efficient and environmentally friendly. Most of the materials were all locally sourced, and the onsite workers were mostly women who were trained to work with metal, ferrocrete, winding columns, and brick shells. A lot of the wood used for the doors and windows was recycled. The outside ledge for sitting was made by bending the railing at a 35-degree angle. This was a simple but effective solution that saved a lot of cost, which might have gone into putting outdoor furniture in the decks.
