Atelier For Women — Dedication to sustainability and community engagement is evident throughout this residence.

Haldwani, Uttarakhand · 2021 · Workshop/Residential space for NGO

The built space stands here as a testament to sustainable design and the spirit of women empowerment. Located in a village, this building, designed for the NGO Agrata, utilizes reclaimed materials to create a space for skill-based workshops and community engagement. The structure itself is made from reclaimed stone and wooden members sourced from a 200-year-old building. This not only adds character and history to the space but also reduces waste and environmental impact. The doors and furniture throughout the building are crafted from the same reclaimed wood, giving a rustic and timeless charm to the interiors. Using the scrap materials, the furniture in the building is made from discarded wood found in a local foundry. The kitchen and pantry areas feature pallets transformed into functional and sustainable storage solutions. Even the stools for children are ingeniously made from repurposed paint buckets, adding a touch of whimsy to the space.
